I can sit up

I've proudly reached a major developmental milestone these few days - Push and sit up all my myself... I'm really excited about it and thus I'm practicing the new skill over and over and over again. For the past 2 nights, I even woke up in the middle of the night so I could practice more. Mom always says 'practice makes perfect', but somehow she doesn't seem to like this idea 'coz she laid me down right away whenever she saw me push up to sit in the crib at night. I sat up and she laid me down, then I sat up again and she laid me down again...

Last night I woke up at 2am and practiced til 4am. At one point, I felt the need to sleep but I didn't really know how to lay down from the sitting position. So, I cried... Both Mom & I were totally exhausted and I decided to sleep without further practicing. I've practiced at least 30 times today and I think I'll continue tomorrow...

Mom found me hysterical but after she found the following in babycenter.com, she let me be myself:

"Babies who were great sleepers may suddenly start waking up at night or have difficulty falling asleep between 6 and 12 months of age. Why? Sleep disturbances often go hand-in-hand with reaching major milestones in cognitive and motor development and with separation anxiety. At 6 to 9 months, your baby may be earning to sit up, crawl, or possibly even cruise or walk — quite a list of achievements! Not surprisingly, he may not want to stop practicing his new skills at bedtime and may get so excited that he'll wake up to try sitting up just one more time."
